Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about our tours, departure point and what to expect.

What tours does Horizon Blue run from Muscat?

Snorkelling tours and fishing charters out of Al Mouj Marina in Muscat. Three flavours: a shared half-day snorkelling trip to the Daymaniyat Islands (most popular, easiest to book onto), private snorkelling charters where the boat is yours for the day, and private fishing trips with a licensed captain who knows where the fish actually are.

Where do Daymaniyat Islands tours depart from?

Al Mouj Marina, Street 6, Muscat 113 — about 15 minutes from Muscat International Airport and 25 minutes from central Muscat. We send full directions when you book, but if you drop "Al Mouj Marina" into Google Maps you will land right at our gate.

How far is it to the Daymaniyat Islands?

Roughly 18 km offshore — a 35 to 45 minute boat ride from Al Mouj Marina, depending on the sea. Dolphins often turn up on the way, so the journey is part of the show.

What will we actually see down there?

Hawksbill and green sea turtles year-round, hundreds of species of tropical reef fish, vibrant hard and soft corals, stingrays, and moray eels — the full reef cast. From August to November, whale sharks pass through the Daymaniyat Islands waters. Nobody honest guarantees marine life, but turtle sightings on our snorkelling tours are very, very common.

When's the best time to come?

October to May is prime time — calmest seas, clearest water (visibility usually 15–25 metres), and the most comfortable weather. May to October is sea turtle nesting season, so the islands themselves are off-limits to land on, but the snorkelling around them stays excellent. If whale sharks are top of your list, aim for August to November.

What's included in the price?

All snorkelling gear (mask, snorkel, fins, life jacket), water, juice and light snacks, and a licensed captain and crew. On the sharing tour the Daymaniyat Islands Nature Reserve permit is included in the price; on private charters permits are charged per person and confirmed at booking.

What should I bring?

Swimwear, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. Everything else is on board.

Is it suitable for children or weak swimmers?

Yes — life jackets in all sizes are provided and required for non-confident swimmers, and our snorkelling stops are chosen for calm, relatively shallow water. Children are welcome with a parent or guardian, and under-5s join the sharing tour free.

What happens if the weather turns?

If the coastguard closes the sea or conditions are unsafe, we cancel the trip ourselves — you can move your booking to another day or receive a full refund.

How do I book?

Online is fastest — head to horizonblueom.com/book and pick your trip. Or call +968 93232 837, or message us on Instagram @horizonblue.om. We reply quickly. If you are putting something custom together (private group, specific dates, hotel pickup), say so in the booking notes and we will sort it.
